farmer's market on saturday morning
*
I just went to the farmer's market. There are many small booths from only local growers. This makes for a strong sense of community, but not a huge amount of diversity. This is probably the micro of the macro in some free trade/ globalization arguments. I'll definitely trade in some disconnected variety for this. The stuff looks awesome. no sweet corn, today, though.
I met this couple on the first night we landed here. They are great and I've been meaning to check out their rock-n-roll outfit. It was a cool surprise to hear them out at the market.
Instead of corn, I settled for a fresh blackberry pie from the Mennonite ladies. They bake the most amazing goods. Probably latent sensual frustration a la "Like Water for Chocolate" or something. I talked with them for awhile.
